There's a bloody 'Thank Post' button.. use it!

Geez.. Someone back me up here...

Does anyone else get annoyed thinking that someone has posted some new vid or pic and it's just a noob saying Thank you. There's a fricken button for thanking someone and guess what? It doesn't highlight the thread, saying there's something new posted! Meaning, I don't have to waste time clicking through and scrolling down rows and rows of pointless comments. Now I know some smartarse is going to reply to this with 'thanks', and in advance, well done, you're so clever but FFS stop posting thanks and start clicking thanks.

Half of the guys doing it seem to have been members since 2003 or thereabouts, and are making their first posts. What's with that?

I love it when you post some pics or a vid and you get like 500 views and only 2 thanks

From now on, every time some idiot types something like "thanks heaps" etc without some kind of contributing comment I'm going to follow each one with, "STFU NOOB HIT THE THANKPOST BUTTON!"

I agree that seeing an old thread revived for a simple "thanks" is very annoying, but you're only doing the same thing (re-reviving the old thread for a 2nd time) by making your "STFU" post after it.
The thread is flagged as having a new post after the pointless "Thanks", so we all open and close it. Then later we see it has another new post, so we open it and just see your STFU post. There has to be a better way.

A users very first post from now on needs to be approved by a mod or admin. If the post is a "thanks" it won't be approved and the user will be reminded to use the Thankpost button from then on. This is only for first time posters though. For anyone else if you press the 'Report this post' button (! left of the Quote button) I'll check it out and warn the user the first time it happens and ban them if it continues. I've made a new rule for this (#12).
