In WMP go to Tools/Options/Advanced and uncheck the "use overlays" boxes. This should allow you to take screenshots.

If that method doesn't work, simply turn off the hardware acceleration in the graphics card. This will stuff up almost any game that using Direct X, so I wouldn't reccomend it unless the aforementioned technique works.

There is more than a few ways...here's 2
    QuickOpen the Video with Media Player Classic.Slide to the frame you want to capture. Go to File->Save Image...
    SlowOpen in Windows Media Player (if you did what thephantom said) you should be able to just hit the print screen button on your keyboard...paste into a picture editor i.e. paint. and cut what you don't want and save.
