Reducing mpegs

Postby mr_cell » Fri Jan 05, 2007 2:43 pm

Just wondering if anyone can suggest some tools for reducing mpegs recorded at the SD digital TV bitrate down to more manageable file sizes? I occasionally record stuff that I could post in these forums but 100MB files are somewhat unwieldy. Obviously freeware is great but I don't mind paying for a tool that is particularly useful.
Thanks

There are many ways to do this mate, one is by following Dv8's guide "How to convert a Digital TV recording into high quality .avi". There is a bit involved but it really depends how much you want to personalise the clip, editing, logos and so forth.

For a quick way of doing things, try DivX converter, it's a good app. for someone who wants it done as easy as possible. To find other apps just use google and you'll find zillions of 'em.

VirtualDub is the way to go imo, because you can basically control every aspect of the finished product.

Good luck, can't wait to see what you come up with.
