Capping from hdtv
Hey there mods
I have hdtv and cant wait to start recording tv clips onto my pc to share. Can anyone halp me with this or a link to a dummies guide to tv capping site? I only really need help with getting the picture to my pc if that helps

You'll definitely want a pd hdtv tuner card for best quality.
If you don't have a pc tuner card, you'll need some sort of video capture hardware to get the signal into your PC. Cheaper capture cards have composite (RCA) or s-video at best. You'll still get a clear picture, but it defeats the purpose of full digital recording.
If you have a tuner card, the included software is usually the easiest way to start recording. Output is usually some sort og MPEG2 format.

Remember that HD consumes ridiculous amounts of disk space. Add to that the fact that you often need to scale it down for decent filesize, it's much wiser to record the SD stream only.
